About

High-tech companies need professionals who can design and develop complex systems, products and processes and offer innovative solutions. Professionals who can fill the gap between market demand and technical possibilities. It is our mission to train systems designers for the high-tech industry operating in three important societal themes, i.e.,

  • Care and Cure (health-care systems),
  • The Connected World,
  • Smart and Sustainable Society.

Systems design is an interdisciplinary process that requires in-depth understanding of both technical aspects and stakeholder and end-user requirements. A systems designer uses creativity and intuition to make choices, search for alternatives and take design decisions, based on scientific arguments, expertise and communication with stakeholders. The decisions taken in the design phase have a great influence on the final product or process. Over the course of two years the EngD candidate is trained in design methods and how to apply these, to work in multidisciplinary teams and to use well-developed professional and personal skills. In the end, the EngD graduate knows how to approach and solve problems.
