Disciplinary Strength and Focus: Our Thematic domains
The research activities carried out in our department are strategically grouped into four thematic domains, each of which is aligned to the multiple priorities of the National Technology Strategy (NTS):
Physics of Light (Optics & Photonics): Fundamental and applied research on light-matter interactions, development of novel optical (meta)materials and the development and exploitation of new functionalities and applications based on optical and photonic concepts.
Fluid Dynamics and Plasma Physics (Plasma & Flow): The exploration of plasma physics and complex flows across lengthscales, and their applications in high-tech systems and technological societal challenges.
Physics of Materials (Materials): Discovering, mastering, analyzing and understanding the properties, design, development, fabrication and application of functional materials (semicon, soft, and nano) to create innovative solutions for diverse technological challenges across industries.
Quantum Frontiers (Quantum): We explore the foundations and applications of quantum mechanics in; quantum computing, quantum materials, and quantum information, aiming to revolutionize quantum technology in computation, communication, and sensing in the high-tech domain for a sustainable information society.
All our domains largely interact with, and contribute to the grand societal challenges and industrial ecosystems in the Brainport and beyond. A number of institutes and research centers operate jointly with other departments within 在线黑料门 or with external partners. We are a reliable and trusted partner in diverse collaborations at 在线黑料门, national and global levels.
