Our mission in molecular possibility

Molecules, whether they occur naturally or are created synthetically, play a fundamental role in shaping our world. By thoroughly understanding how molecules come together to create function, we gain the ability to influence various aspects of our future. Including materials, energy, transportation, health, and life itself.

ICMS concentrates on three interconnected research domains: Foundations of Complex Molecular Systems, Advanced Materials, and Engineering Life. These areas reflect the institute鈥檚 evolving identity, deeply rooted in supramolecular chemistry and polymeric (bio)materials, yet dynamically responsive to societal needs and scientific frontiers.

ICMS is recognized globally for its expertise in soft matter and molecular systems and has established itself as a critical player in Europe鈥檚 knowledge infrastructure, contributing significantly to the continent鈥檚 innovation capacity and long-term economic resilience.
